Motogpnut Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 My personal take on the construction of the generic Tuskens in the film is there have been a few deliberate design choices made. We see variation in robe material, weapons and although the ANH Tuskens superficially look the same, there is quite a lot of variety even the head wraps are differently laid out. I feel these are conscious design decisions as the first film was a difficult project with numerous challenges. It would have been simpler to have one design and made them uniform like with stormtroopers but what we see in the film are four different Tuskens.Another choice to me that would make sense is the designers focused a bit more on the Peter Diamond cliff fight costume, like giving him the waist bandolier, as the costume will get more screen time so will be a focal point and also will need to handle fight scenes. The other costumes were in the background somewhat so maybe a wrap around style robe was sufficient for one of them as they would not be in focus as much and the designers at the time probably could not foresee the scrutiny the costumes get from us 45 years later. In the carry Luke scene, the difference in materials is clear with the look and hang of the robes being quite different. It is reasonable to guess there is variation in costume wrap, closing etc. as we see so much variation elsewhere.I feel there is an element of making do in the generic Tusken costumes that would not appear much on film to meet filming schedules, budgets etc.Of course I could be completely wrong but just my take! That, for me, is the appeal of the ANH Tusken. Different members can approach the build in different ways and get a great looking costume at the end.Anyway great build threads both[emoji1303]Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkI agree. They focused primarily on Peter Diamond’s Tusken. The other two where just extras they grabbed. Hence all the pictures of him behind the scenes. The picture August and I marked up actually isn’t in the movie either. The movies shows a few seconds later when they dropped Luke and headed to ransack the speeder. The picture from Star Wars.com is actually the other way. So even some of the “legit” reference material is questionable sometimes.Lol Quote
