Jankowski Posted January 23 Posted January 23 I took some photos the other day to check the fit. The bright lights we have in our studio highlight how much more weathering I need to do... But I feel I'm getting closer. Quote
M.J. Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Hi ya Nick, weathering can be fickle, good idea to take a photo on the progress. Weathering looks so different in person compared to a photo. Found that out with my costumes, so many times I had to go back and add more. stupid camera Quote
Nezhdanov Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Well done on getting towards the end of your project it’s looking good!My bit of advice for weathering is try not to make some of the costume elements radically different in colour / weathering / tone to the rest of the costume.Although the actual colours in the old reference photos are a bit tricky to determine due to how some images are over saturated, they don’t appear to have any really dark elements compared to the rest of the costume. There are some colour differences yes but not really dark colour / weathering / tone on one costume element and then really light colour / weathering / tone everywhere else. All the best [emoji4]Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

I absolutely agree. I think that all three of my bandoliers are a bit dark when compared to Peter Diamond. The waist bandolier was unfinished leather and very light in color to begin with, and I used baseball glove oil to help soften the leather on the pouches and shape them, but it darkened the leather just a little more than I thought it would. My goal for all three bandoliers is to weather them in a way which makes them look more "dusty" and "dried out" leather instead of well-oiled leather. Just as an update, both my Cliff Attack and my husband's Cliff Attack have been approved by our GML, with the understanding that we are going to weather them further. He was happy with the construction and felt that additional weathering to make them look more lived-in was all that was left. I'm going to keep working on them to get them closer to the reference images, but having them approved to troop in was an incredibly validating step. This also means that I can focus more time on my Mando season 1 and season 2 Tusken projects. My goal is to have Rifle (Season 1, version 1), Gaffi (Season 1, version 2), and a Season 2 Tusken all done by the end of May so we can get those CRLs updated. 2 Quote
