Burner Posted December 9, 2025 Posted December 9, 2025 After a long hard road of tracking down vendors materials and other sources (a lot found here) along with the help of some local and neighboring garrisons members I’m finally off to the pod races! So here we go! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
Burner Posted December 9, 2025 Author Posted December 9, 2025 First up are the boots Made from old military rain boots (cheap thrift find)Cloth was then cut at different sizes. Glue was applied to cover the boots then wrapped with cloth and edges glued down. Slight spray can weathering may go back in with a sand textured spray.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
Burner Posted December 9, 2025 Author Posted December 9, 2025 Rebreather is a 3d printed kit, then painted and weathered. Leather was then wrapped and glued around the center. A 1/4” metal rod was then bent and crimped before being glued into place. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
Nezhdanov Posted December 10, 2025 Posted December 10, 2025 Hi!Looking good so far [emoji4]The only thing that I can’t judge very well is the size of the breather cylinder. I say this only because some breather versions have become large getting away from the references. The crl has ‘Neck Breather resembles a small cylinder 3" to 4" ( 7.62cm - 10.16cm) in length, approximately 2" (5.08 cm) in diameter, with tapered caps on either end connecting to a tube, which runs behind the neck.’If yours are those proportions then ignore this [emoji4]Looking forward to seeing more of your build!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

The diameter of the breather is exactly 2” and the length is 3,3/4”.My only question is:Is there a length between neck and chest I should be focusing the breather sits at?Thanks again for your help my friend!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote
Nezhdanov Posted December 10, 2025 Posted December 10, 2025 Not a hard and fast length but a proportional position closer to the head. Some of the shots where Tuskens are doing something the breathers move but sit around the top area of the chest.Breathers will move about as you troop so the area closer to your head and top of the chest will be fine [emoji4]Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote
Burner Posted December 10, 2025 Author Posted December 10, 2025 Gloves/ arm wrapGloves are made of off white heaven weight garden gloves soaked and stained then lightly weathered with spray can(this is the process for boot wraps and wraps for the head)Arm wraps were made by wrapping plastic wrap around the arm to build up the proper length of the arm around with proper diameter. Sainted dry wraps are then applied and gently glued into place for a basic shape and look. Once happy plastic was removed and wrap was sealed to hold its form for easy on and off(not too stiff though still a very natural look and easy to move)Made for left and right specific with a lower palm to be able to move the hand easy.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

It is sitting a few inches below my collarbone divot, not wearing any bandoliers(I’m assuming it will sit slightly higher once I’m wearing them as well)Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote
Burner Posted December 10, 2025 Author Posted December 10, 2025 Bandoliers and waist sash/ pouches Etsy find Teakas Workshop I’ve worked with them before for some other projects and enjoy their close personal service. Wait time wasn’t too bad either and I do not have to pay any extra fees delivered into the USA.Simple scuffing to the leather, then sprayed with sand textured spray paint(this is used in slight areas through out this build to give consistency and a realistic environmental feel while not going away from CRL requirements)After spraying, most paint was quickly removed on larger areas process was repeated until desired look and effect was achieved. Waist sash/pouches made by a friend from neighboring garrison along with tunic and robe.Cloth was stained and weathered same as boots and arm wraps.Pouches made from western leather pouch kit that can be found at craft stores such as Micheal’s. Acrylic brown and black paint applied with a sponge and dabbed dry with paper towel so give dirty weathered look. Pouches attached by rivets and filled with floral foam to fit and keep shape.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
Nezhdanov Posted December 10, 2025 Posted December 10, 2025 Those should work fine and I don’t envision any clearance issues. I used acrylic though out my costume and it can be a good way to get the look of age and wear relatively simply [emoji4]Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote
Burner Posted December 10, 2025 Author Posted December 10, 2025 Robe and inner tunic made by a friend in a neighboring garrison. All cloth soaked in black tea and dried, same as all other cloth parts.Pants were an Amazon find light spray can weathering along with sand textured paint.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
Burner Posted December 11, 2025 Author Posted December 11, 2025 Gaffi stick was an Etsy find (DHPFX from Colorado USA) DIY kit very nice quality and very easy to put together. Wood look finish was applied and cloth wraps secured at top and bottom to hide assembly lines along with strengthen those seams while also creating a custom comfortable way to hold the stick.Cloth was stained a bit heavier to give the “held and used look” Body is all PVC with a dowel rod inside for stability.Head is made of rubber not 3D or resin cast (I’m always a fan of hard rubber props rather than something that can break easy while trooping) Fins are a hard plastic Spear is also rubber but a bit more fixable that the head(I feel this is definitely a beneficial option rather than hard plastics)Fins fixed into place with glue. Once dried hot glue was used to creat the welded fin appearance. Everything on lower end was then painted silver. A coating of acrylic sponge weathering was applied and washed off until desired rust and weathered effect was achieved. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
Burner Posted December 11, 2025 Author Posted December 11, 2025 The head, constructed out of an ABS shell and resin cast parts. All “metal” parts painted silver and acrylic sponge weathered and washed until desired appearance. After taking head measurements to get sizing as close as possible(on the smaller head side of things) the inside of the 2 main shell pieces were held together with painters tape using my head measurements as a guideline. Cloth strips then gently “tack” glued down to start the base and hold the shell together once happy with the placement of the wraps and all other aspects of the face a light water and glue mixture(same method of arm wraps) is applied to the wrap and dried with a hair drier to help seal and form to the head shape.Inside personal padding to better fit and stay secure and comfortable was added.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
Burner Posted December 11, 2025 Author Posted December 11, 2025 After all of the work and waiting on parts along with the saving grace from another garrison member that could help me out in a pinch on the robe sash and tunic along with the added supply of the proper materials to finish this project. These will hopefully be the photos used for my submission photos. Thanks to all who have helped me here along with the great information I found here along with my good friends who personally helped me with this project! And here’s a Tusken and a Kitty kat because why not!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
Nezhdanov Posted December 15, 2025 Posted December 15, 2025 The only things I would point out is that the outer robe sleeves do not appear to reach your wrists. Even during action shots in the film, there is no evidence of a short sleeved ANH variant. This may be a dressing issue but it looks like the sleeves don’t reach your wrists. This is not unique to your costume as I have noticed more short sleeved ANH costumes being made and sometimes approved recently. It is up to individual garrisons if they clear short sleeves but I would say it is not reflective of the ANH film costumes. The head wrapping I would say seems a little tight and not as loose as those in the film. Again I have seen ANH heads cleared looking like this but I feel it is getting away from the costumes in the film.If you add a few looser head wraps it could help with the look.Other than those comments, I like how your inner and outer robes are loose and have folds and creases which is good. The colour of the costume overall looks like the costume elements belong together. I say this as sometimes people will have quite different colours for the wraps or head which can look unusual.Apart from what I have mentioned, the costume looks good [emoji4]Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

Is this something I should open the seam up a little on the robe arm openings or just let the arm wraps break in more? With the head, would it be easier just to loosen the ends of the wrap already applied to give that looser tattered look? Are there any areas you’d say needs a bit more attention than others?Thank you again for the help and motivation!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote
Nezhdanov Posted December 15, 2025 Posted December 15, 2025 If you’ve used hot glue for the arm wraps, the stiffness turns into being more soft and a little spongy after some use from trooping.I’ve found I’ve had to apply some hot glue to some wrap areas after they’ve gone a bit too soft from use. When kitting up for clearance, see if you can get another person to help get your outer robe sleeves down more to the wrists. That way you shouldn’t get any queries about the length.Hopefully that should sort the issue.I would refrain from messing with seams in case it opens up more with use and causes other problems. You could try loosening the head wraps if they are not too stuck down but that might be tricky. If they don’t yield then one or two long wraps wrapped around and maybe crossing over should do.All the head wraps in ANH have different placement so follow something like that, but doesn’t need to be exact.Hope it goes well [emoji4]Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote
