Nezhdanov Posted March 22, 2024 Posted March 22, 2024 Thanks! This sounds really interesting [emoji4] Could you show us what you mean with the bead details! It could be really helpful towards the evolution / understanding of this costume element and / or be a good resource for others!Interesting bead find on the other thread by the way, could be a good reference if someone finds an outlet near to them or wants to make their own!As for the measurements, this too could be really helpful if you could show us this as well [emoji106]The only thing I would say about absolute measurements is the costume element would need to look proportional to the wearer of the costume as everyones size and shape will vary. Sometimes exact measurements can result in a costume piece appearing too small or too large. If someone is taller or smaller for example, to get the beads to appear the right length to the costumer, some tweaking may need to be made for it to fit in with the costume look overall.Would love to see your research though as no doubt it will be really helpful to get a fuller understanding of this particular costume element and I’ve found that more research and perspectives results in a better costume for everyone [emoji4]Thanks again!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
Spadille Posted March 22, 2024 Posted March 22, 2024 So I feel it’s important to establish the scale of the on screen model to the actress, that way people can scale to themselves off of that. I don’t really have a way to show how I figure out the scale, but I can try to attempt to explain it. I find something in the references that I can measure IRL, in this case her thumb width. I surmised that her thumb width with glove on would be close enough to my thumb with glove off. I divide my width by her width and establishes scale. I can then measure each piece pictured with the micrometer and multiply it by the scale. Once I found screen accurate pieces, I was able to cross reference my established scale to confirm accuracy.
