So how are we looking?, I'll get the staff to also give it a once over, Diana have look and see what you think.

Not everything is set in stone. So when we do get our history back and fine the old write is more user friendly we can just update it.

Once everyone gives it a thumbs up... we are set to go!

Hi, it’s been a long day at work and I might be going a bit funny from staring at a screen all day but the images Heavy put up of the crl images the other day seem to be showing a breather that is more like the ANH type?

I’m sure the costume had one with smooth end caps and the different flare nuts? I remember doing a bit of breather text altering as it originally was a mash up between warrior and ANH text.

[edit- I grabbed some reference images the other day so this should illustrate what I mean]

Hi, I’ve gone through the crl text and all seems fine to me.

The only queries I have is the width on the belt. It has two widths mentioned, ‘approximately 2” wide’ then a little later ‘belt leather is 1/8” thick’. We could just say ‘approximately 1/8” to 2” wide’ or just remove one measure?

The other query is the shawl length at the back. The text says ‘the back is lower and sits just above the belt’. There are reference images that seem to show back of the shawl roughly level to the bottom of the belt. Could we just say level with the belt or specifically say bottom of the belt?

This is a bit over the top but I’ve had a go at the staff accessory wording.

Staff
• The Warrior staff matches the design shown and proportions as seen on screen. The staff length reaches from the ground to approximately chest height.
• The staff is a rod made of wood or other suitable material made to look like wood.
• The rod has a textured panel near the ‘pineapple’ end. The opposite end near the blades is a panel resembling leather ridged for grip.
• The ‘pineapple’ consists of many rows of raised bumps evenly distributed. There is a protruding spike from the centre of the ‘pineapple’ that has a slight taper.
• Staff has 4 long shallow curved blades that intersect each other at right angles at one end. The blades join the wooden rod by three stepped sections of slightly increasing size that are metal or metal like ending in a raised metal or metal like guard.

Might be a bit much that but see what you think!

Hi. I would say that the shawl is level with the back.

Oh, by the way, about the gaffi...I hope that it's going to be an optional part. I made the one in the photos and I know it isn't exact and I was hoping to get another one. Well, I got one for Christmas and it was done by someone that makes props. When he asked if a certain one was what I wanted,  it was so I said yes. I was excited to get it but then he said, because he wasn't licensed,  he couldn't make me the exact one, so, even though I have a nice gaffi, it too isn't exact. I hope I can modify it a little if need be.

About the belt, yeah, I'd say just say 2" wide. I think that sounds good.  And the breaher, if I have to remake it, I wouldn't have much of an option for the flare nut. They all look the same for that size and style. But I can fill in the ridges to smooth out the cap, I think.

Grabbed the staff write up thank you.

I was looking Dianas build when I wrote the shawl so that was me.

Dianas does sit just on the belt or waist .  I can change the wording to just longer sitting around the waist line?

Hi, not to worry at the bottom of all our Tusken crls (and even the snow trooper one I’ve still got bookmarked) there is a bit of text…

‘Optional Accessories
Items below are optional costume accessories. These items are not required for approval, but if present appear as described below’

I made it detailed to match the rest of the crl. Also so those who want to make the correct one have some description and as this crl is for a named character rather than a generic one, I wanted to discourage people just using a gaffi from another Tusken type like ANH.

It’s why I also mentioned it might be a bit much as a description.

I’ve noticed there is generally a bit of a relaxed attitude with accessories like with the ‘pineapple’ not needing to be too close to the actual shape. I have seen how long a gaffi is being questioned which is why I mentioned the length as there can be comically short ones [emoji4]

[edit below]

Oh and sorry about the breather, I didn’t mean to make things awkward! I was certain you had a different one?

This is what I was describing in the crl text.

So, I've been working on the breather. It was tough trying to figure out what those prop makers used. Then I had a "light bulb" moment and had to go hunting for stuff. Not easy! But I think I got pretty close, close as I'm going to get. I hope this version looks good.DZY9fWh.jpgNXotsxg.jpegO2vbCfs.jpeghYCbCzn.jpg

Hey that’s a pretty clever solution! It’d be good to see what the proportion looks like when worn but that could be a good result!

It reminds me of my version of ANH breathers using roll on deodorant bottles and cleaning fluid caps!

It might be worth you making a back up as even though the plastic was quite thick on mine, once or twice they got a bit damaged travelling to a troop. I was able to repair them later but you don’t want to not costume because of damaged costumes parts!

I’m working on getting this into the format.

once I’m finished I’ll ask and check for any final updates. If not, it will go to the lmos.

I made a second breather. I put them together for size comparison and proportion on the shawl and on me. fVJTBGQ.jpegr5UzHoI.jpegWF2qJBc.jpegyVXVIv6.jpegMKlVeXv.jpeg

Good to have an alternative!

I think I personally prefer the narrower breather for proportions when worn but I also prefer the end caps from the first version. I am slightly conflicted as I also think with all the kit on, the head etc. and you are moving, the first version, although slightly wider would probably blend in as well [emoji4]

It was really hard to find the caps. But at least, if need be, they can be switched out from one to the other! Thanks!

Thought I’d mention the weathering on the breathers but you may already be aware of this.

This was a clearer image I had. There is some lighter and darker brown areas on the breather body rather than being a block of one colour.

This shouldn’t be too difficult to achieve perhaps with acrylic paint or a bit of sanding of the darker brown breather you made? The lighter breather might just need some darker paint around the edges?

I didn’t want to ask more of you as I realise that it is a pain considering how much you’ve done on your excellent costume [emoji4] I was concerned it might get flagged later.

Yes, I agree. I noticed the color after looking at my photos but at least it's an easy fix. Another photo coming up soon.

I think the bead apron needs to be revisited.  I just did a complete scale check using my digital micrometer against different reference photos and I’m confident the length is 3” too long. Measuring from the center, I believe the length is 17” with the center set of ball chain measuring 24”.  Also as discussed in a different thread, we believe that there are no spacer beads, but instead tied knots in the leather string holding each and every bead.  You can see evidence of this because each spacer knot corresponds directly with the color of leather string holding that entire vertical bead strand.  Also I feel it is important to note, the ball chain pairs each contain two different color vertical ball chains, one antique copper and one antique brass.  Also I double verified and the ball chain width is 4.5mm for each strand.  Also to note, the wooden “pancake” beads are 10mm in diameter.
