Hey! For some reason, the site won’t let me upload a photo, even if I size it waaaay down. If it worked, I’d upload my pattern creation for my outer tunic and shawl, as well as my leg and arm wraps! For the shawl, Crl says there are eight horizontal strips in the front, but I only keep counting seven from reference photos from the costume display? Am I crazy? I’m better at keeping up with my local 501 squad and the Tusken raider group, so if any pictures are required, they’re on there!

Sad that alhough following the forum I never got a notification of this run happening.

Utini friends, I'm asking this question on behalf of a friend who is having trouble connecting to the forum, but would like to ask if anyone has the patterns for the leather pouches. Thanks from him!

Ok, so I have had a look at the images and I think this originally would have been an ANH Tusken with a few bits missing and incomplete. There are positives and negatives to either completing this as ANH Tusken or completing as AotC Tusken. I personally feel it would be easier to turn this into a complete ANH Tusken as it would require less work but will have a few costs. Let’s start with the ANH costs you would need to complete the costume. First, there needs to be three bandoliers for the ANH Tusken (you don’t need three bandoliers for AotC). The prices will vary depending what type of bandolier you go for. The good news is that military surplus or new recreations of bandoliers can be found and quite a few people still make bandoliers that would suit the costume. The other good news is that you can mix and match a little so there is some leeway in what to get. The crl linked here has a section on bandoliers and the types that are suitable. https://crls.501st.com/kc/tusken-raider The second ANH cost would be some leather or leather like material to wrap around the mouth area (this also would be required for AotC). The leather or leather like material should look like this image below. On your head there is head wrap material in between the eyes and the tusks, this should be leather or leather like material as in the image below. If you got a bit of bull denim material, you could wrap some looser head wraps around the head you have as the ones you have are a little tight for ANH. Just one or two wraps should do to loosen the look. The ANH head wraps should be more loose as in the image below. If it were me, I would try to redo the folds into the mouth area as the head you have doesn’t have many. It should look more like this image below (this would be similar with AotC). You could check with your local garrison if they would be ok with your mouth folds as they are. The breather you have should be fine (see above image for comparison). Your boots should also be fine. Without seeing the robes being worn I will tentatively say they should be ok but I can’t be certain. If this image below is your waist sash, it may be too dark. This might be able to be covered up with a waist bandolier so the colour difference could be resolved that way. I can’t really see your arm wraps or gloves but they should look more like this image below. Another view of the type of ANH gloves needed. I think you could get your costume up to a good ANH Tusken standard but would require some work and more bandoliers. See what you think you would like to do and hope this helps [emoji4] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Apparently it's the new online safety act. :/ Want me to upload the OPs pictures to these site? You should be able to see them. https://postimages.org/ https://imgbox.com/

I was surprised too as I had been able to in the past? [emoji4] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Didn't know Imgur started blocking UK! That's crazy.

What type of Tusken are you going for? If ANH you'll need 3 belts in total. I'm guessing those two sleeve things are for the arm wraps? If so you'll need to wrap those in the same material as the helmet. The helmet you have needs wrapping on the mouth bit as mentioned before as well as weathering. The trousers which you'll probably never see if the boots are tall and the robe is done right are supposed to be tan or brown pants. If the inner robe is too long that won't be an issue to fix, just trim it slowly from the bottom until your feet poke out from underneath. https://crls.501st.com/kc/tusken-raider Oups, sorry I didn't see that you were going for AOTC version. So you'll need one more belt, neck wrapping if it's not included and just inner robe as well as the leather nose wrap and arm wrappings. But if you have the outer robe you could also go for the ANH version if you wanted to. https://crls.501st.com/kc/male-tusken-raider-aotc

I think it’s a region thing, i get the message… Content Not Available Content not available in your region. Learn more about Imgur access in the United Kingdom Some parts of the world have differing restrictions it seems. I have accessed imagur images from peoples threads in the past so it must be a fairly recent thing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Is this on your phone or the PC? Working fine for me on both. They block VPN connections for some reason so you'll have to turn that off if you're using one.

LadyKnight33 If I can see the images, perhaps you could try inserting the URL in the box that says OTHER MATERIAL so that the photo appears directly without having to click the link. Another option is to change your hosting provider, like imgBB; I'm currently using it and it works well.

I can’t see the images, I used to be able to see images from imagur but there must have been a policy change? Anyway, if it’s AotC there shouldn’t be a breather like this that goes around the neck. This is a ANH thing. In the image below is a ANH breather, AotC doesn’t have one. These are examples of AotC Tuskens. The head wraps are glued down more than the ANH Tusken. There is a thick neck wrap for AotC compared to ANH. You will need one Bandolier worn across the chest or around the waist. The second image gives an idea of the type of bandoliers needed. The robes should be loose fitting as seen in the images. The second image shows the arm wraps quite well but the sitting AotC Tusken is wearing the robe differently, covering most of the arm wraps. It’s a bit difficult to advise when I can’t see your images but hopefully these images will help. The AotC crl will help as a guide also [emoji4] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Your helmet is missing the leather wraps around the snout, so it is not 501st-ready. It could possibly use a little more weathering. We will need to see the robes unfolded to check their seams and weathering. Otherwise, you're missing the arm wraps and chest bandoliers.

Not sure why imgur is having issues. changed it to public. It looks like I'm aiming for the AotC version. https://imgur.com/lpT2kSp https://imgur.com/iKo9teT https://imgur.com/bTrWn9K https://imgur.com/2hTjXQ6 https://imgur.com/sRxDaD6

Hi and welcome! Unfortunately I cannot see the images you have on your link, so I can’t help advise on what you currently have. There are also many Tusken types. I am going to assume you are talking about the ANH Tusken or AotC Tusken. ANH CRL guide link https://crls.501st.com/kc/tusken-raider ANH References (what the costume is like from the films) https://www.kraytclan.com/forum/topic/8571-reference-images-for-anh-tuskens/ AotC CRL guide link https://crls.501st.com/kc/male-tusken-raider-aotc AotC References (what the costume is like from the films) https://www.kraytclan.com/forum/topic/8568-reference-images-for-aotc-male-costume/ Let us know which Tusken type you have and we can help further but hopefully these links will help you understand what you need [emoji4] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I purchased a completed Tusken Male Kit. I'm pretty certain I do not have everything I need for approval for the 501st, but perhaps the Rebel Legion. Items I have: Helmet, Belt x1, Outer robe, inner robe, cumberbun belt, pants, gloves, boots, beathing piece, gaffie stick. The pants provided to me were an orange dickies pair, which is why i'm leaning to this being from the Rebel legion. But I had a pair of brown crotchless pants laying around from some other random purchase of interesting clothing and that's the one I have pictured. https://imgur.com/a/tusken-raider-pieces-DoKFV8x The questions I have: What pieces would I need to aquire for the 501st approval. (probably the belts) Is the Helmet ready for the 501st? HOW best would this be worn? the outer robe left loose? or closed? It is long on me. I'll get photos with the costume on as soon as I can.

Your quite welcome! Any other questions just ask! I’m looking forward to seeing more of your build [emoji4] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It does help! I’m very new to all of this and only have experience with costume approval through the Mando Mercs. Thank you for taking the time to explain it to me!

No problem! With any costume, the final say if a costume clears or not is down to local garrison level. Some are more strict or relaxed and it varies from each garrison. We at the Krayt Clan develop the Denizen crls based on the references available at the time and what knowledge the crl builder brings to the costume construction. The crl costume builder is often the first to build that costume. The crl is not necessarily the best version that costume will ever be, as more people make the costume, more info is uncovered and the costume evolves. We would usually say to build to the references and use the crl as a guide. We have found that people can interpret crl text in a number of ways no matter how we try to be specific. So sometime the text can be a bit general with the understanding that people will be looking at the references. There is some text at the top of each crl… ‘This is a visual guide used for 501st costume approval, not a how-to for construction. Construction details are found at the costume's Detachment website. Measurements provided here are generalized, and not criteria for approval. All 501st costumes are proportionate to the wearer in terms of size, fit, and scale. During evaluation, both text and images (CRL and Reference) must be considered. When in doubt about a feature of a submitted costume, GMLs should post questions in the Legion forum's DL/GML peer review section’. I describe it like this, if I painted a version of the Mona Lisa and also wrote a lot of text describing what the Original Mona Lisa painting looks like, my version of the painting and text would never be as helpful or accurate as just looking at the original painting for yourself. It may be helpful as a guide though [emoji4] As for leeway, with generic costumes like most Tuskens or Jawas there is usually garrison level scrutiny on materials and how they look, but generally these have leeway on how the costume can look. However, with specific named characters such as the warrior, where only one appears, there is less leeway from our perspective as we feel the costume should look like the character being referenced. Using ANH Tuskens as an example, there is a specific Peter Diamond Tusken (the Luke Cliff top Fight Tusken) where it is quite a strict build compared to the generic ANH Tusken crl which is not as strict. If you pick to make the character specific Peter Diamond ANH Tusken, it should be more precise than the generic version. But, check with your garrison and see what they think. Hope this helps [emoji4] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
