  8. Screen accurate Jawa fabric found at last!

Finally got my dye tests done. First round with the color combo I normally use on Monks cloth. This is a mix of Chocolate Brown, Dark Brown and a tad bit of Rust Brown (All Dharma Procion dye). Natural fibers take a LOT more dye! It came out very red brown, but really deep color. IMG_3486.JPG by Lesley Farquhar, on Flickr IMG_3488.JPG by Lesley Farquhar, on Flickr Second test with another brown called "Truffle Brown" also from Dharma. Much more realistic color and will show weathering wonderfully! IMG_3504.JPG by Lesley Farquhar, on Flickr A comparison of the two swatches: IMG_3503.JPG by Lesley Farquhar, on Flickr Locally we are getting together a group order of the fabric. Here's where you can find it: https://www.onlinefabricstore.net/36-inch-sagless-burlap-fabric-.htm and its current pricing. The more you buy, the better off you are! Todd is figuring about 9 yards for an adult of average height, given the way the fabric shrinks and how narrow it is. 25 + yards $5.05 per yard Save 10% 50 + yards $4.50 per yard Save 20% 250 + yards $4.25 per yard Save 24% 500 + yards $3.90 per yard Save 30% 1,000 + yards $3.15 per yard Save 44%
  9. Screen accurate Jawa fabric found at last!

I have really good news to share you guys. My XO (the former DL Todd Mullin), sent me the link here so I could take a look at the fabric. I own my own bag design business--so textiles are my thing! I went searching amongst my fabric sources for this weave--and think I found it. Here's the pix: RAW FABRIC ON THE BOLT. IMG_3408.JPG by Lesley Farquhar, on Flickr IMG_3409.JPG by Lesley Farquhar, on Flickr POST WASH: (IT MOLTS! put stay stitching in FIRST) IMG_3410.JPG by Lesley Farquhar, on Flickr POST DRY (See the awesome herringbone weave!) IMG_3411.JPG by Lesley Farquhar, on Flickr its 36" wide, natural jute material. It loses about 3" each way per yard after shrinking. Its awesome stuff, but damn scratchy--I recommend lining it with soft black cotton. it only runs about $5 per yard, but I've only found ONE supplier so far. I am still looking to see if another supplier is avaialble or a wider version. It molts and sheds like CRAZY when you wash it. Be warned--a laundromat is probably a fantastic idea. Be sure to both wash hot water/dry heat--to make sure that your material is shrunk. So far this does not respond to chlorine bleach for lightening on Tusken robes--I have a chemical color remover coming--but that'll take a few days. I have not yet done a dye test--but that's also coming! I use professional Procion MX dyes from Dharma Trading. once I have the dye test done, I will post those pix too!

    Aye Aye Webmaster...changed mine!
  14. I used a hard hat liner inside, and then added some padding also under neath the liner at the crown of the helmet. I still need to weight out the back a little bit though.
  15. Gamorrean and Garindan/Kubaz

I do believe that Garindan and Gamorreans should be here. For some of the others that Todd listed, probably not. I honestly think we should follow what the Rebel Legion did, and create a "Fringe" detachment for all these unclassified characters that don't readily fit into others. They actually did 2... "Creatures"--where they put stuff like Wampas/Chewie, etc and then Fringe for the rest. So the DZ designation could easily be shared across 2 or 3 smaller specialist type detachments IMO. These characters DO need support and help to design the costumes for sure.
